Thank you to Dr. Sue Schmitt and Countryside Animal Clinic for hosting us. Countryside has been in business for 40 years in Streator and Dr. Sue talked about her journey from starting as a veterinarian out of college to opening up her own clinic that grew to as many as five veterinarians. She talked about how important it is to grow and adapt as technology and culture changes. She told us she had always wanted to be a veterinarian since she was a young girl and still looks forward to every day she comes to work. She worked under other veterinarians when she first started her career and it helped her learn what direction she wanted to take things business-wise, including opening up her own office. When she first started, she was one of very few women in the profession, she told us not to let anyone discourage us from what we want to do.
