Thank you to SOCU for hosting a mock board meeting and allowing us to play the roles of board members. Through the hands-on process, we were able to get insight into the operations of a credit union (including what makes it different than a bank, among other lessons). Dylan served as board chairman running the mock meeting, Nayla vice chair, Andres treasurer and Keaton secretary as SOCU's executive team gave us the presentations they would have given their board. We discussed how to engage younger demographics to become customers at the credit union and voted unanimously in favor of SOCU donating an additional $500 to the Streator Cops 4 Kids (after a discussion). We also were given an overview of SOCU's more than 80-year history that ties back to Owens glass factory. We also appreciate the breakfast.
