Thank you to Ryan, John (a Streator High grad), Dan, Josh and Greg at Constellation for giving us a demonstration at the La Salle Generating Station's simulator this morning. The walkthrough brought to life what it's like working in a control room at the nuclear power plant. We learned about the safety measures, security precautions and training that goes into operating the plant, getting to see a "scram" demonstration, among others. We also heard a summary of how nuclear power works. Employing hundreds of people, and thousands during the refueling outage, we asked about the variety of careers that work out at the plant. The trip was a favorite for many of the students!
