Thank you to Linn and Mel at Dabarkadz Grocery in Westgate Plaza for sharing their story and showing us around their Filipino grocery store. We heard about how the four original owners were inspired to start their own Filipino store in Streator, because of how far it was to travel to another one, and turned that idea into a reality, working with the Small Business Development Center and other business professionals to get started. They also talked to us about their daily operations and challenges. We got to try Mogu Mogu, thanks to Linn, along with other Filipino snacks - also learning some Filipino geography and culture along the way. One thing that resonated with us is how Linn talked about feeling a sense of giving back to the community and how that keeps her motivated.
