Thank you to Brandon and Lance at Alloy Specialties, Inc. for giving us a tour of their Streator facility and talking about how the factory operates. Brandon talked about employees being the biggest asset to a business and treating them right. He also warned us about shortcuts, saying it's better to "do what's right, not what's easy." We got to witness a laser cutting machine in-progress. We also learned about an educational program at Alloy - in cooperation with other local companies - that allows for people to apply and gain skills on the job. Brandon talked about the variety of jobs at Alloy, not only those who work on the floor, but also people on the safety team, customer service, management, engineering and design, among others. He spoke about how Alloy's business model is as a supplier, so the relationship built with its customers is imperative to everything they do.
