We would like to thank Dr. Sue Schmitt, owner of Countryside Animal Clinic for speaking to the group today. Dr. Schmitt first discussed her passion of becoming a veterinarian at a young age. In an era when males dominated the profession, she followed her dream and eventually ended up in a program at Iowa State. With a few stops along the way, supportive parents, and a helping sister; she opened her first clinic in Streator in 1985. She shared her business start up, her 5 year plan, and how eventually her client files grew and her expansion to Oakley Avenue happened. Dr. Schmitt provided many life lessons, words of wisdom, and valuable advice. Communication, trust, telling the truth, and giving back to the community were all topics of discussion. Being a team player and continuing to do the little things also stuck out. So too did the roles and duties of her staff members. Thank you so much Dr. Schmitt!
