What a neat visit we had this morning to the Streatorland Historical Society Museum. Mr. Dave Reed, President greeted us and gave us an amazing tour. Dave first spent some time discussing to our kids the organization and history of the Historical Society. He explained to our group the importance of donations they receive and the operating expenses they incur. The original Museum, housed on Vermillion Street was a donation from the Lorrain, Bob, and Doug Dieken family. The Museum’s new location was donated by Dr. Glen and Karen Ricca. It was very evident that Dave sure knows the history of Streator and the Historical Society has done an awesome job in displaying this history. Each room now displays a rich collection of Streator’s history and is displayed by themes. From our City’s founders room, Glass room, Coal room, and many more; it was very fascinating to see. Thank you Dave and Executive Director, Mary Lou Anderson for letting us come in!
