Today we visited Joe’s Station House Pizzeria in Pontiac and spent our time with the Hoekstra family. Owner’s Steve & Kerri Hoekstra, and son Josh all shared a lot of great advice to our group. Owning their own business at a young age, Steve discussed their growth over the years and their tough times as well. He had great advice on building relationships with your advisors, suppliers, employees, and your customers. Budgeting, Lines of communication, customer service, and marketing were also topics of discussion. Kerri also owns her own custom bakery called Kerri’s Kakes. She shared how she took a hobby within her kitchen to her new location within Joe’s. She also had great advice on marketing, cottage food laws, and copyright legalities. Josh, a CEO Alumnus, shared duties he has held within the family business and his current supervisory role within Joe’s. Thank you Hoekstra family for having us in and spending your time with us!
